Our Second Opinion Service gives you an independent specialist review of your case — your records, your results and your options — before you commit to major treatment. A good second opinion doesn't undermine your doctor: it either confirms the plan so you proceed with confidence, or it surfaces alternatives you deserve to know about. Either way, you decide from a position of knowledge.
Who it's for
- Women advised to have gynaecological surgery — hysterectomy, fibroid removal, ovarian surgery — who want the recommendation independently reviewed
- Patients with a new or serious diagnosis seeking clarity on what it means and what the options are
- Anyone whose symptoms persist despite treatment, or who feels unheard
- Families weighing treatment options for maternity or gynaecological complications
What's included
- Records review before you arrive — we study your referral letters, scans, laboratory results and histology in advance
- Extended consultation with specialist obstetrician-gynaecologist Dr HP Manyonga, FCOG(SA) — unhurried, with every question answered
- Examination and, where needed, in-rooms ultrasound
- A written summary of our opinion: the diagnosis as we see it, the reasonable options (including doing nothing), and the benefits and risks of each
- A copy for your referring or treating doctor, if you wish — the choice to share is entirely yours
How it works
- Send your records — share what you have; we'll tell you if anything else would help.
- Attend one extended visit — Johannesburg or Pretoria.
- Receive your written opinion — usually within days, in plain language.
Fees
From R3,500 — includes the records review, extended consultation and written opinion.
Additional investigations (bloods, specialised imaging) are quoted separately if needed. Medical aid members: consultations billed at scheme rates where benefits apply.
